How we collect and check new-car data

Where does the data come from?

We take prices and versions from the brands’ official Dutch price lists. Technical data comes from the same price lists and from RDW open data. Safety scores come from Euro NCAP, and the numbers of new registrations from the RDW.

For every value we keep the source, the document, the date of the document and the day we looked at it. You see these sources at the bottom of every page, with a link to the original.

How do we check the data?

For every price and specification we keep the text from the source that the value comes from. A second, independent check then compares the data with the source once more.

If a value is not in an official source, it stays empty. On the page you then see a dash with the explanation “not confirmed in an official source”.

What do drive-away price and fiscal value mean?

The drive-away price (rijklaarprijs) is the price including the costs of getting the car ready for the road, as the brand counts them in the price. If the price list says those costs are not included, we say so.

The fiscal value, also called the list price for company-car tax (bijtelling), is the list price including VAT and BPM, without the costs of getting the car ready. The Dutch tax authority uses it for the bijtelling. If a price list does not print it, we show a dash.

What do the date and “valid from” next to a price mean?

If the source gives the day of the price list, we write “price list 1 September 2026”. If it gives only a month, we write only the month. If the price list carries no date, you see “checked on” with the day we last looked at the price.

If a price only starts on a date in the future, it says “valid from”. If the source calls a price provisional, we add “(provisional price)”. If a price does not come from the brand itself but from another source, it says “according to” and the name of that source.

Do you use AI for the reviews?

Yes. Our reviews of new cars are compiled with the help of AI, only from the data and sources shown on the page, and each review says so. A second, independent AI check reads every sentence against that data, and an automatic check looks whether every amount named can be traced to the price list or the data of that model. We have not driven these cars and we give them no score of our own. The sources and the date of the last check are listed under each review. A person does not read the reviews beforehand; where it says “read and approved by”, that has happened.

What about owner reviews?

Owner reviews are coming soon. We intend to have them confirmed by email and moderated before they appear. We do not verify that someone really owns the car: a review is what a person wrote, not a verified fact.

What happens to a quote request?

With the “Request a quote” button on the page of a model or version you ask for a quote. Your request reaches the Sell Your Car team. Only if you agree to it do we forward it to up to 3 dealers of that brand near you, so they can make you an offer.

We do not send requests to dealer email addresses found on other websites, and we promise no response time. A request is free, and the prices on our pages are shown without a request too.
