How does the price check calculate market value?

For each car we calculate the private-sale value with the same model as our car valuation: new price, depreciation per year, mileage against what is normal for the age, fuel and the season. We then add 10% for a sale by a dealer. That margin covers preparation, servicing, warranty and the statutory conformiteit (conformity) a business cannot exclude.

The check does not see trim, options, damage or condition. A well-equipped or exceptionally tidy car may therefore sit above market value.

What does the market position mean?

Position Against market value What you can do
Below market more than 5% lower Room to raise the price, or a quick seller
In line 5% lower to 3% higher Well priced
Above market 3% to 10% higher Explain why in the ad, or drop a little
Far above market more than 10% higher High chance of a long stand time

The suggested price is the market value rounded to a price ending in 95.

Which costs should you count when buying stock?

If you bought the car at a B2B auction, include the buyer fee. At BCA in 2026 it is €150 under €1,000, €460 from €1,000 to €14,999 and 1.75% (minimum €460) from €15,000. Autorola charges €295 to €995. For an import, add rest-BPM.

    Cost Amount 2026
BCA buyer fee, car €1,000 to €14,999 €460
BCA buyer fee, from €15,000 1.75%, minimum €460
Autorola buyer fee €295 to €995
    Registration transfer €13.10

    Margin car or VAT car?

With a margeauto (margin-scheme car) you bought from a private person and pay VAT only on your margin; the VAT is not shown on the invoice. A BTW-auto (VAT car), often ex-lease, is sold with 21% VAT shown separately. For a private buyer the total price counts either way. Note: since 1 January 2026 a trader may not accept €3,000 or more in cash, even in instalments.

How do you use the CSV export?

The export uses semicolons as separators and opens straight in Excel or Numbers with Dutch settings. For each car you get make, model, year, mileage, fuel, asking price, market value, position and suggested price, ready for your own stock system or the dealer portal.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the market value an appraisal?

No. It is an indication from our model based on model, year, mileage and fuel. The check does not count trim, options, damage or condition. For an official value, for example for an import, you need a valuation report (taxatierapport).

Why 10% above the private value?

It is our estimate of what buyers pay extra at a dealer for preparation, servicing, warranty and the statutory rights in a consumer sale. A defect within 1 year of delivery is presumed to have existed already, and that certainty has a price.

    Is my stock data stored?

Only in your own browser, so your rows are still there next time. Nothing is sent to Sell Your Car. Use "Clear all rows" to empty the list.

Can a dealer accept cash for a car?

Not for €3,000 or more. Since 1 January 2026 traders, including car dealers, may not accept or make cash payments of €3,000 or more, even in instalments. From 10 July 2027 an EU-wide cap of €10,000 also applies; the lower Dutch limit stays.
