Kia has worked its way up in the Netherlands from budget brand to one of the most sought-after names on the used market. The Picanto is a staple for first-time buyers: with 30,708 used sales in 2025, it is one of the most traded used cars in the country according to BOVAG/RDC. The Niro is one of the most popular used EVs, with 3,960 electric examples sold in 2025. The Sportage and Ceed are the brand's family cars, and the Rio is still widely available as a young used car.
The strongest selling point is the 7-year or 150,000 km factory warranty. It belongs to the car, not the owner: the factory warranty passes to the next owner as long as the conditions have been met. In practice that mostly means servicing on schedule, with proof. A 2021 Kia with a complete service book is therefore covered until 2028, and buyers are willing to pay for that.
When selling, be precise about the trim (ComfortLine, DynamicLine, ExecutiveLine, GT-Line), the drivetrain (hybrid, plug-in or electric) and, for an EV, battery health. Older Euro 4 diesels, such as the Sportage II 2.0 CRDi, are barred from the milieuzones (low-emission zones) in Amsterdam, Utrecht and Arnhem. Start with a free valuation using your kenteken (registration number).
Kias hold their value well in the Netherlands, largely thanks to the 7-year factory warranty that passes to the next owner. A Kia with warranty remaining and a complete service book sells noticeably more easily than one without.

Yes. The factory warranty passes to the next owner as long as the conditions have been met. The main condition is servicing to Kia's schedule, provable with invoices or a digital service record. The warranty runs for 7 years from first delivery or up to 150,000 km. Some parts, such as wear items, are excluded or have shorter terms.
No, not necessarily. An independent garage may also service it, as long as the work follows the factory schedule with parts of equivalent quality and you can prove it with invoices. If in doubt, ask a Kia dealer to check whether the history qualifies. Do this before you sell so you can give the buyer certainty.
The Picanto. With 30,708 used sales in 2025, it is one of the most traded used cars in the Netherlands according to BOVAG/RDC. Among used EVs, the Niro is popular: 3,960 used electric Niros changed hands in 2025, putting it third among used electric cars.
Yes, usually. Buyers pay for the certainty that major repairs are still covered. The more years and kilometres left, the stronger your case. Make sure you can show the servicing is in order, because without proof the warranty means little to a buyer. State in your ad until when the warranty runs.
