Peugeot is the Netherlands' second used-car brand after Volkswagen. The 208 and 2008 are the volume models, the 308 is a sought-after estate for high-mileage drivers, and the 3008 is a family SUV that was popular in lease fleets. As a result, many young, well-maintained Peugeots come off lease every year, often as a BTW-auto (VAT-qualifying car).
When selling, three things matter: the engine, the service history and the trim. The 1.2 PureTech petrol engine has a timing belt that runs in oil; buyers ask when it was replaced and how much oil the car uses. A car with invoices for the belt and oil changes on schedule sells noticeably more easily. Trims such as Allure and GT, the i-Cockpit digital dashboard and the EAT8 automatic are in demand. Start with a free valuation by registration number, then compare trade-in, auction and private sale.
Peugeots lose value a little faster in the first years than German or Japanese rivals, partly because of the large supply of ex-lease cars. A car with proven belt maintenance and a sought-after trim holds its price better.

No, not if you can show the maintenance. Buyers know the stories about the timing belt running in oil. With invoices for oil changes on schedule and, on older cars, a replaced belt, you take that worry away. Without a history, a buyer or dealer will deduct the cost of a new belt from the price.
Possibly. Stellantis announced an extended scheme for timing-belt problems on the 1.2 PureTech, with conditions such as servicing on schedule. Whether your car qualifies depends on its age, mileage and history. Ask a Peugeot dealer using your VIN and mention the outcome in your ad.
The 208. It is affordable and economical, and there are plenty of buyers, from first-time drivers to commuters. The 2008 comes next as a raised hatchback for people who want a bit more space. The 308 SW is popular with high-mileage drivers who want a big boot.
No, not necessarily. Ex-lease cars often have higher mileage, but also full dealer servicing and one owner. Buyers value that. Supply is large, though, so the price needs to be sharp. A business buyer can reclaim the VAT on a BTW-auto, so state whether your car is a margin or VAT car.
